International school group Forfar Education is growing its presence in Greece with plans for a new English curriculum primary school in Thessaloniki and the acquisition of the Tree of Life Pre-School a short distance away.
The British School of Thessaloniki (BST) is set to open its doors in Greece’s second-largest city in September and will offer a British primary education with a strong international outlook. Designed for children aged over 4, the school will initially welcome pupils into Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
BST will offer language instruction in Greek, Hebrew and French, alongside extracurricular activities such as music, dance, arts and sports, Forfar said.
Ahead of its opening, the campus will undergo extensive redevelopment, and there is a plan to eventually create secondary school provision, too.
A pathway between schools
The Tree of Life Pre-School, meanwhile, is by British Schools Overseas (BSO) and is located in Eleones, Pylaia, in the Thessaloniki region.
The pre-school follows the UK’s early years foundation stage curriculum, and Forfar said the acquisition would ensure a pathway to BST for children.
The development follows Forfar’s first acquisition in Greece in January, when it entered into a partnership with .
The group also has schools in the UK, Spain, Portugal, and Andorra.
John Forsyth, founder and CEO of Forfar Education, described the launch of BST as “an exciting new chapter†and said it is Forfar’s ambition to create a British school “with a local heart†and a “global outlookâ€.
