Revision lesson that uses the economics behind public toilets to touch on topics such as:

Under-provision of public goods
Quasi-public goods
Tragedy of the commons
Moral hazard
Opportunity cost
Externalities
Behavioural economics / nudge theory

Lesson challenges students to understand public toilets from an economist’s perspective and to draw and adapt various diagrams.

Also included is a game/activity where students have to use their understanding of economics and human behaviour to decide how best to keep a public toilet clean on a budget.

See a similar lesson where I have used the concept of ‘ghosting’ to help students revise topics such as information asymmetry, present bias and game theory here: /teaching-resource/resource-13395566
