Number facts with a bakery theme. Children use facts to 20 to work out related tens facts (if 6 + 3 = 9, then 60 + 30 = 90), practise adding and taking away within 20 by making 10 first, write fact families, and solve missing number problems up to 100. Pip the baker cat’s reasoning question tackles a common mistake: is 9 − 4 the same as 4 − 9, because you can swap the numbers round?

The sheet comes in three differentiated levels (Supported , Core , Extending ), all practising the same skill. You can hand out all three in one lesson and the whole class works on the same objective. A teacher’s answers page with the matching National Curriculum objective is included.

What’s Inside
a. â— Supported (2 pages): loose doughnuts and trays of ten turn a small fact into a tens fact, adding and taking away
b. Core: facts to 20 by making 10, related tens facts and a fact family
c. Extending: missing numbers to 100, sum and difference, spot the mistake, check by adding, and reasoning
d. Teacher’s note and answer sheet

Curriculum Link
Supports the Year 2 National Curriculum (Number: addition and subtraction): ‘recall and use addition and subtraction facts to 20 fluently, and derive and use related facts up to 100’.

Great for: independent practice, small groups, intervention, homework, assessment and early finishers.

Format
One 6-page A4 PDF: teacher’s note, four worksheet pages and an answers page. Made for Year 2 (ages 6–7) and useful for Year 3 consolidation. Written in UK English, it prints clearly in colour or black and white and needs no preparation: just print and go.
