Build early reading confidence with 20 woodland-themed comprehension activities, designed for early Year 1.

Organised into three separate PDFs, this pack offers different levels of reading and response:

• Set A: 6 activities using mainly CVC words, short sentences, tick-box questions and a drawing task.
• Set B: 8 activities introducing Phase 4 words with adjacent consonants, alongside tick-box questions and short written answers.
• Set C: 6 activities focusing on ay, ou and oy, with written questions, word finding and simple inference.

Each activity fills one A4 portrait page and includes a short original text, relevant character illustrations and a clear, spacious layout. White backgrounds and small touches of colour keep printing low-ink.

Matching answer sheets are included in each PDF.

Ideal for guided reading, supported morning work, small-group practice, intervention or home learning.

Choose texts to match the phonics children have already been taught. Some tricky words may need revisiting, and adults may need to read the questions aloud. This is an independent resource, not an official phonics-scheme product.
