This practical KS1 resource helps children explore letters, build words and develop their spelling skills in a fun, hands-on way.
It includes five worksheets, each with a different collection of letters. Children use the letters provided to make as many words as they can.
An answer sheet is included with examples of some of the words that can be made, allowing children to self-check their work.
There is also a recording sheet for children to write their answers on, or they can record their words directly in their workbooks.
For an extra practical element, children can use real alphabet blocks to build the words before writing them down.
The resource also includes two blank letter templates鈥攐ne with 12 blocks and one with 10 blocks. Children can add their own letters to the blocks and challenge themselves or a friend to make words using them.
Teachers can also add specific letters, sounds or spelling patterns that the class is currently working on, making the templates useful for targeted practice or informal assessment.
The activities are ideal for independent work, small-group sessions, phonics practice, early finishers or literacy centres, while encouraging children to experiment with letters, build vocabulary and become more confident word makers.
