1-Hour Lesson – Fully Interactive – Ready to Teach

Dear Colleague,

Step into the world of women during the First World War and discover how their efforts both on the home front and in the streets shaped history. This lesson explores the roles of Suffragists and Suffragettes, the contribution of women to the war effort, and asks students to evaluate whether the war helped women gain the vote.

This is the ninth and final lesson of a 9-lesson unit, but it works perfectly as a stand-alone session. Students will engage with original sources, match key knowledge, and develop their writing skills through structured activities.

Learning Objectives:
LO1: Identify what Suffragists and Suffragettes did during the First World War
LO2: Describe the roles women had during the First World War
LO3: Evaluate whether the war helped women gain the vote

Lesson Features:
Knowledge-building activities on women’s roles during WWI
Source analysis to develop historical understanding
Writing practice to answer evaluative questions
Homework, reading resources, and task templates included
Fully interactive, ready-to-teach slideshow
