Four ready-to-use enrichment activities for KS3 Geography students who’ve mastered the basics of the Anthropocene - ideal for extension tasks, homework, cover lessons, or stretching high achievers. No preparation required. Suitable for students aged 11-14.

The Anthropocene is a proposed new geological epoch marking the period in Earth’s history when human activity has had a major impact on the planet’s atmosphere, oceans, land, and living things.

Each activity targets higher-order thinking: a 12-term vocabulary matching exercise covering key concepts such as the Anthropocene, Holocene, anthropos, and the four spheres of the Earth; a 24-mark challenge quiz including true/false questions and a data interpretation task analysing population and CO2 emissions over time; a 20-mark Crawford Lake case study exploring real geological evidence used to define the Anthropocene; and a creative Teach It Back task where students design a one-page guide explaining the Anthropocene to Year 6 students, assessed with a provided rubric. Full answer keys and marking guidance are included for all activities.

Pairs with the main 100-mark KS3 Geography worksheet on this topic, also on TES. Buy both together as a complete lesson bundle and save £1.

The accompanying YouTube video is Google Classroom ready — simply copy the link directly into your Classroom assignment.
