A professional weekly lesson plan template for UK primary school teachers, NQTs and ECTs. Editable in Word or Google Docs, print-ready on A4 landscape, and structured to cover everything a well-planned lesson needs — from learning objectives and differentiation to Assessment for Learning and post-lesson reflection.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Six complete lesson plan templates:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday — pre-labelled and ready to use
One blank template for any day or subject

Each template is a single A4 landscape page, structured into ten sections that flow logically through the planning process.
WHAT EACH PLAN COVERS
Learning objectives and prior knowledge. Success criteria (WALT / WILF), broken down as All / Most / Some will. Key vocabulary (4–6 words). Resources and National Curriculum link. A five-phase lesson structure (Starter, Main Teaching Input, Guided Practice, Independent Work, Plenary) with suggested time guides. Every phase has parallel columns for teacher and pupil activity, differentiation (Support / Core / Extend), and Assessment for Learning. A dedicated section for SEND and additional needs notes. Assessment strategy and homework. And built-in post-lesson reflection prompts — what went well, what to change, next lesson key actions.
WHO IT’S FOR
Primary class teachers wanting a consistent, professional planning format. NQTs and ECTs building good planning habits from the start of their career. Teachers preparing for lesson observations or Ofsted. Supply teachers needing a clear, portable planning structure. Anyone who plans in a notebook and wants to go digital.
FORMAT
The pack is a single Word .docx file with six template pages, plus a matching PDF version for reference or printing. Everything is editable — swap subject, adjust time guides, duplicate pages for weekly re-use. An instruction sheet explains how to import the file into Google Docs if you prefer to work there.
HOW TO USE THE TEMPLATES
Open the .docx in Word or Google Docs. Choose your day template or the blank. Fill in the header bar with class, teacher name, date, lesson duration and year group. Complete Learning Objectives and Success Criteria first — everything else in the plan flows from these. Work through the five phases, filling in teacher activity, differentiation and AfL for each. Complete the post-lesson reflection section shortly after teaching, while details are fresh.
In Google Docs, duplicate a plan page by selecting all content on that page and copying it to a new tab — much faster than starting from scratch each week.
