Viking migration is the fourth installment in the medieval series designed for year 7. It follows ‘Anglo-Saxon culture’ in the Saxons and Vikings unit in our KS3 curriculum. This unit can fit into thematic frameworks under migration and trade, or chronology as a starting point for year 7. Its LO is to understand who the Vikings were and why they came to Britain… Its aim is to address the enquiry, ‘Were all Vikings raiders?’

Skills covered: Interpretations and source analysis (compare and contrast), judgments and new knowledge.

Resources required: Invasion, Plague and Murder textbook is recommended, although the reading task can be replaced with online resources if necessary.
