Varjak Paw by S. F. Said - 6 Week Reading Planning

Created for a Year 5 or 6 class yet can be adapted for other year groups.

Planning takes the format of 4 sessions each week:
Session 1: Modelling: Learn together
Session 2: Practice: What have we learnt
Session 3: Independence: Developing skills and understanding
Session 4: Apply: Using what we’ve learnt to a variety of domains

No unnecessary worksheets. No slide-led teaching.
These plans are designed to develop active readers through direct engagement with the text, purposeful talk, modelling and flexible activities—not passive completion of predetermined tasks.
