This complete classroom resource has been created for T Level Management and Administration students studying Unit 1, Specification 1.9: the impact of current and emerging digital technologies on organisations.

The PowerPoint provides clear, engaging and accessible coverage of the specification, with a wide range of activities designed to help students build knowledge, apply business theory and develop confidence with longer exam-style responses.

The resource explores:

  • the impact of technology on products, processes and communications
  • current and emerging technologies, including AI, IoT, augmented reality, 5G, drones, biometrics and big data
  • the effects of technology on cost, training, processes and operational effectiveness
  • how organisations introduce and embed new technologies
  • change-management approaches, including ADKAR and Kotter
  • access controls, cybersecurity threats and user awareness
  • safe and responsible use of online technologies
  • digital communication methods used by organisations
  • ways businesses and employees can keep up to date through blogs, webinars, seminars, events and professional development

Students complete a range of individual, paired and group activities, including independent research, class discussion, mind maps, role play, case-study analysis and exam-style evaluation. The presentation also includes model answers, response guidance, recap activities and a homework case study based on emerging technologies used within major UK music venues.

English, maths and ICT core skills are built in through:

English: research, note-taking, group discussion, presentations, business vocabulary, extended writing, evaluation and justified conclusions.

Maths: considering implementation costs, subscriptions, maintenance, potential savings, efficiency, performance data and the financial impact of technological change.

ICT: online research, digital presentation creation, safe and responsible technology use, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, data analysis and understanding how digital systems support modern organisations.

The slides have been reviewed and refined individually to ensure they meet the specification, remain suitable for 16–18-year-old business students and provide opportunities for stretch, challenge and application to realistic organisational situations. These have been created for T Level spec BUT can be used to cover this subject matter at Business GCSE or A level, they are not spec specific though.
