I needed a way to communicate the facts of immigration and the needs of asylum seekers to a very low ability KS3 class with set views. This resource takes them through relatable stories of people moving countries before revealing that those people are all immigrants. It then moves to discussing the facts behind asylum seekers and uses examples from Ukraine and Somalia. The PowerPoint acts as a solid base but requires confidence in the topic to deliver successfully.

The very end of this resource goes with the short story ‘A Picture of Home’ by Bernard Ashley, found in the anthology ‘Stacks of Stories’ but can be edited to be less specific.
