The Wow! Signal – Coloring Poster is an engaging educational resource introducing students to one of the most famous unexplained radio signals detected from space. The poster explains that on 15 August 1977, the Big Ear radio telescope in Ohio detected a strong and unusual radio signal. Astronomer Jerry R. Ehman noticed the signal on the printout and wrote “Wow!” beside it. Students can colour the radio telescope, signal printout, Earth, stars and space-themed illustrations while learning key facts about the event.

The resource encourages astronomy, science, critical thinking and discussion about the possibility of intelligent life beyond Earth. It is particularly useful as a classroom display, lesson starter, enrichment activity or independent colouring task.

Suitable for: KS2–KS4 Science, Astronomy, STEM, Geography, enrichment, SEN/EAL learners and early finishers.
