A complete, ready-to-teach PowerPoint lesson on the factor theorem for Pearson Edexcel International A Level Pure Mathematics 2 (WMA12).

Students see why the factor theorem works before they use it: if f(p) = 0, then (x − p) is a factor of f(x). The lesson extends to factors of the form (ax − b), uses the theorem to factorise a cubic fully and sketch the curve, and finds unknown coefficients when a factor is given.

What’s included (21 slides):

Learning objectives, prior knowledge and key words
5-minute retrieval starter with answers
Explanation slides: why the factor theorem works, and how to use it
5 worked examples, built up one step per click, each followed by a “You Do question with a full worked solution
Common mistakes slide
8 practice questions with answers
Exam-style question (7 marks) with full mark scheme
Exit ticket and “Can I… checklist
Speaker notes on every slide

Follows section 1.3 of the Pearson Edexcel IAL Pure Mathematics 2 textbook, with Exercise 1C suggested for independent practice. All questions are original.
