Lesson Overview:
Starter Activity: Hot and Cold Sun Game – Pupils move quickly or slowly depending on sun-related words such as “shade,” “sunburn,” or “sunscreen.”
Main Activities:
Sing and act out the “Slip, Slop, Slap” song
Design a Sun Hat as part of a creative craft project
Role-play sun-safe choices (using shade, wearing hats and sunglasses, applying sunscreen with adult help)
Create Sun Safety Posters with key protection messages
Sequence the Sun Protection Steps in the correct order
Conduct a UV Bead Experiment to observe how beads change colour in sunlight and represent invisible UV rays
Key Concept: Focus on positive, practical sun protection — cover up, use shade, apply sunscreen, and wear hats to stay safe outdoors.
