"Stimming Is A Part of Me!" is a child-friendly social story designed to help students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, better understand, accept, and celebrate self-stimulatory behavior — often called stimming.

This story helps children:

  • Learn what stimming is and why it happens
  • Recognize that everyone stims in some way
  • Understand that stimming can help regulate feelings and energy levels
  • Explore safe, respectful ways to stim that don’t cause harm
  • Build self-acceptance, confidence, and pride in who they are

Written for students on the autism spectrum and their peers in Grades 1–6, this story uses simple, supportive language and colorful visuals to promote understanding, empathy, and inclusion.

It can be used by teachers, school psychologists, counselors, parents, or therapists as part of a social-emotional learning lesson or daily classroom routine. Together, this story empowers children to see that stimming is a natural, healthy way to help their brains and bodies feel “just right.”
