Length of document: 43 pages; 10,652 words. Teaching time: 4 hours.

This Handout assumes study of Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard.

This Handout contains 7 practice questions and model answers on a variety of different topics and themes such as would be asked in the Drama section (D) of Paper 1 (English Literary Study) in the SQA Advanced Higher (AH) English examination (C824 77).

It has been written and prepared by a qualified teacher and Examiner with 30 years’ experience of teaching and marking both SQA English and GCSE English.

In addition to the “model answers”, the Handout provides “assesssment for learning” grids which require students to evaluate their own answers using 8 directed questions, which will enhance their learning and help them achieve a better understanding of where they can improve.

Please note that this is a Student or a Teacher resource.

It can be distributed to students or will be equally useful as a single document for use by teachers.

Furthermore, at only £5 (less than a pound per question!) this resource represents excellent value for money and is only 1 of my growing collection of resources for SQA English and also SQA Politics.
