Make Spanish vocabulary revision a shared challenge: 467 words and expressions, 15 topic choices and a mixed-vocabulary mode in one ready-to-use game.

Word Stars brings the familiar hangman guessing format to your classroom with a clean pastel design and stars instead of a hanging figure. Project the game and let the class work together to uncover a Spanish word or expression, one letter at a time.

How to play

  1. Choose a topic for focused revision, or select All vocabulary for a mixed challenge.
  2. Students suggest letters and discuss possible answers together. Correct letter guesses earn points; incorrect guesses lose a star.
  3. Use the free letter hint or spend earned points to try a vowel or consonant without losing a star. Students can also attempt the whole word or phrase.
  4. After a successful answer, review the English meaning, a Spanish example sentence and its English translation. Click New game for another random item.

One resource, many revision sessions

  • 467 distinct words and expressions in the full vocabulary pool.
  • 15 selectable topics, plus mixed play that also includes reference vocabulary such as numbers, colours, dates and nationalities.
  • Three challenge settings: Easy gives 15 stars, Medium 10 and Hard 7. These change the number of chances, not the vocabulary level.
  • Useful classroom controls: on-screen Spanish keyboard including 脩, physical keyboard support, full-screen mode and Undo.
  • Learning beyond guessing: successful answers reveal vocabulary in context with bilingual examples.

Topics included
Personal information; appearance and personality; family and relationships; daily routine; home and household tasks; school and education; free time and sports; media and technology; food and restaurants; clothes and shopping; town and transport; holidays and travel; health and wellbeing; jobs and future plans; the environment.

Ready to project
Includes one downloadable HTML file. Open it in a modern desktop browser and display it on a classroom screen or projector. It works offline after downloading, with no student accounts, printing or app installation required.

Use it for whole-class vocabulary and spelling revision, starters, plenaries or Spanish club activities. Choose topics your learners have studied and adjust the stars to suit their confidence. Each new item is randomly selected, so words may reappear for revision. The screenshots show the actual game.
