Introducing students to social media platforms that adults use.

The PPT goes through the following sites talking about some of its positive (beneficial uses) and some of the negatives (risks). There are also tips for using these applications safely. It includes screen shots from actual social media platforms e.g. how to find the privacy settings / help and support.

  1. Facebook
  2. Snapchat
  3. Instagram

There are some others which have a little information on them (not as comprehensive)

  1. Reddit
  2. TikTok
  3. Linked In
  4. X (formerly Twitter)

Writing activity: Short paragraph: “Which platform do you think is most risky for young people and why?”

Fast finishers – Choose a video to watch from YouTube showing people who have made producing content their livelihood e.g. Sorted Food

Resources designed for the new senior Social and Community Studies syllabus (implemented in QLD in 2024). Topic: Digital Citizenship. The end of term assessment for this unit was a product (Information Booklet / Pamphlet / Brochure).

The content would also be useful more broadly for students in other states and countries with an interest in online safety. Additional resources for this unit are also available in my store – Aussie_Resources.
