A complete, no-prep GCSE Religious Studies unit on Sikh beliefs, teachings and practices, designed for AQA Specification A (8062), Component 1. Twelve exam-focused lessons follow the two-part shape of the specification: six on beliefs and teachings (the nature of God, the ten Gurus, the Guru Granth Sahib, equality and service, karma and mukti, and the Khalsa) and six on practices (worship in the gurdwara, langar and sewa, the Five Ks, the Amrit ceremony, the life-cycle rites, and the festivals). The Guru Granth Sahib is treated with the reverence Sikhs give it as a living Guru: the unit describes and explains its teaching rather than quoting an English translation at length, following the tradition’s guidance and citing the opening Mool Mantar respectfully. The kirpan is presented, as Sikhs understand it, as an article of faith and a symbol of the duty to stand for justice and defend the weak — never simply as a ‘weapon’.
