Use measured data to assess a claim, identify an unfair comparison and plan a more useful test. Ages 10–14.

What’s included: an original reading, two activities, three exit questions, separate model guidance and teacher notes. Eleven pages per PDF edition, supplied in colour A4, colour US Letter, black-and-white A4 and black-and-white US Letter. These are print versions of the same content. Eight editable PowerPoint slides accompany the pupil PDFs, plus adaptable text and a file guide. Seven files in the ZIP. Answer guidance is on pages 7-9; pupil material is on pages 3-6.

Read a simple table, subtract whole numbers and calculate a mean with support. A calculator is optional.

This is a paper-based investigation using fictional results. No experiment or equipment is required. Any optional real investigation needs the teacher’s own risk assessment. Results do not endorse a commercial product.

Download and extract the ZIP. A PDF reader and PowerPoint-compatible software are required. The preview and samples show real pages. Background source links are included.

Print text uses British English spelling.
