拢1 per lesson! Includes ppt, rhythm music to perform and lesson starter activities (settlers).
5 lessons guiding students through learning:

  • Note durations and names
  • Rest durations and names
  • Ties
  • Dotted notes
  • 2/4 3/4 and 4/4 metres
  • Composing rhythms
  • Playing polyrhythms as a class or small group ensemble (on ppt and as a printable sheet)
  • Djembe playing techniques (if you don鈥檛 have Djembes then use what percussion you do have for performing, or body percussion)
Each lesson has clear pack away instructions at the end with a hyperlink to a YouTube video for students to watch as they鈥檙e packing up that is linked to the lesson.
Success criteria is given for composing, performing and listening.

Personally I used this in Y7 term 1, doing Pitch (treble and bass clef notation) in term 2 which then relies on students having prior rhythm and metre knowledge.

Best used with my Music Theory Booklet (covering y7-y11) and KS3 Assessment Booklet. Slides relating to page numbers are from the Theory Booklet and success criteria is from the Assessment Booklet. Can be taught without but you may have to create some additional resources.
