This assembly has been designed for KS3–5 to mark Remembrance Day 2026. It provides students with an understanding of the origins of Remembrance while bringing the subject up to date by explaining the modern role of the Royal British Legion.

The main focus of the assembly is the story of remarkable acts of heroism on the Western Front during the First World War. Students are introduced to the individual stories of three Victoria Cross recipients whose bodies were never recovered, providing a powerful and engaging way to explore the human experiences of war and remembrance.

The assembly includes detailed presenter notes for each section, guiding staff through the key points to cover alongside the slides.

Having delivered the assembly, it received highly positive feedback from both students and colleagues, making it an engaging and meaningful resource for Remembrance Day 2026.
