Build confidence solving one-step equations with inverse operations and substitution checks. This 12-page printable PDF includes explicit teaching, guided practice, independent practice and worked answers for Year 7 / 7th grade algebra.

INCLUDED
• 2 teaching pages with worked examples
• 12 guided questions using all four operations
• 12 independent questions, including negative and zero solutions
• 6 mixed-review questions: solving, checking, error analysis and a short word problem
• 2 complete worked-answer pages
• Cover, teacher overview and terms

SCOPE AND USE
Students solve one-step equations by applying the same inverse operation to both sides, then check by substitution. Solutions are integers. Addition/subtraction constants and multiplication/division factors are positive integers. No two-step equations, brackets, variables on both sides or fractional solutions.

Suitable for classroom instruction, tutoring, intervention or revision over one or two lessons. Students should know the four operations, recognise variables and use integer arithmetic. This focused resource supports Year 7 algebra skills; it is not a complete curriculum unit.
