Make poetry active, creative and enjoyable with this collection of printable poetry games, challenges and classroom activities.

Find the Wonder: Poetry Activity Pack is designed to accompany the Find the Wonder poetry resources or work as a flexible stand-alone poetry toolkit. The activities encourage pupils to read closely, notice language, discuss ideas, experiment with words and respond creatively to poetry without relying on traditional comprehension worksheets.

The pack contains 7 complementary resources:

60 Poetry Challenge Cards
Quick reading, discussion, analysis, writing and performance challenges. Ideal for early finishers, guided reading, table work, poetry stations and extension activities.
Poetry Colouring & Observation Pages
Poetry-inspired scenes including daffodils, an eagle, stars, wind, a brook and a garden bird. Activities combine colouring with noticing, interpretation and imaginative response.
Poetry Display Posters
Attractive poem-themed classroom posters featuring poets including W. H. Davies, Emily Dickinson, William Wordsworth, Christina Rossetti, Carl Sandburg, Sara Teasdale, Robert Frost and Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Each includes a discussion question to encourage deeper thinking.
Poetry Vocabulary Activities/Cards
Useful poetry and poem-specific vocabulary for matching, discussion, display and language development.
Poetry Bingo
Multiple bingo boards encouraging pupils to spot features including imagery, rhyme, repetition, metaphor, personification, mood, sensory language, symbolism and more.
Roll a Poem
A dice-based creative writing game in which pupils roll to select a subject, image, emotion, verb, sound and final line before creating their own poem.
Poetry Chatterboxes
Printable reading and writing fortune tellers containing poetry questions and creative challenges, plus a blank version for pupils to design themselves.

The pack supports a wide range of classroom uses including National Poetry Day, poetry units, reading lessons, English starters, early-finisher activities, guided groups, intervention, homework and creative writing sessions.

Activities can be completed independently, in pairs, in groups or as a whole class, allowing teachers to choose individual pages or build them into a larger poetry session.
