MOVING TO A DIFFERENT SCHOOL instead? The TRANSITION PACK in my shop covers that one - new building, new journey, transition meeting and staff handover. This booklet is for the smaller move: same school, new room, new adults.

Moving up a year is a smaller change than moving school, but it is not a small change. The room is different, the adults are different, and for a lot of children that is the whole of the summer holiday spent wondering.

This is a booklet the child fills in with an adult alongside, before the end of the summer term while the new room and the new teacher are still there to be seen. Drawing counts as answering.

WHAT’S INCLUDED (10 pages)

• My new class - class name, teacher, room number and a photo or drawing of the room
• The adults in my class - photo and name slots for four adults, plus who to go to if none of them are there
• Where things are - a plan of the classroom, and the six places that matter most
• Same and different - with a “what would help” column for the bits that are not certain
• My new day - coming in, the morning, break, lunch, home time
• What I want my teacher to know - the child’s own words, ready to hand over
• My first week - one line a day, something good and something they would change
• Printing guidance and licence

WHY IT WORKS

• Photo slots throughout - a face you have already seen beats a name on a list
• Reassurance first: the “stays the same” list comes before the “will be different” list
• Nothing is left sitting on a worry - the uncertain bits always get a “what would help” box
• Person-first language, no good/bad behaviour framing, no Zones of Regulation wording
• Large text, high contrast, one idea per box
• Fills in by hand - no software, no fonts to install

FORMAT

• 10 pages, instant download
• A4 and US Letter versions both included
• Undated, so it works any year
• Pages 3 to 9 staple into a booklet the child keeps over the summer
• Print at 100% / Actual size - black and white printing works fine

Ideal for the end of the summer term, transition weeks, SENCos, class teachers and TAs preparing a child for September.

Licensed for one teacher or one household. Whole-school licences available on request.
