This resource is a complete, exam-focused revision package designed to help students prepare for AQA GCSE History. It is ideal for independent study, classroom discussions, and as feedback during mock lessons. It provides structured guidance, model answers, and annotations to support students in improving their exam technique and understanding of America 1920–1973.

Features:

  • 3 x Interpretation Examples (how do sources differ, why might the authors hold different interpretations and which one do you find to be most convincing?)
  • 8 x 4 Mark Questions
  • 4 x 8 Mark ‘‘In what ways did…’’
  • 5 x 12 Mark ‘‘Which of the following was more important’’

The annotated booklet with comments and re-drafts shows common mistakes and encourages self-assessment and answer refinement, highlighting progression from lower to higher-level responses.

To further aid this, a simplified marking grid accompanies both booklets. It provides a clear breakdown of how marks are awarded for knowledge, analysis, evaluation and structure. This becomes useful in helping students assess their own work and understand exam expectations, as there is also a section that allows them to write down targets and consider what to implement in their re-drafts.

In total, there are 20 full model answers which covers all question types covered in the exam. Some questions are supported by multiple responses to show how some answers can be strengthened or developed from one level to the next.

Benefits for Students

  • Complete coverage of all major AQA GCSE History question types.
  • Shows how to improve answers across different levels with worked examples and annotations.
  • Combines practice, feedback, and guidance in one resource.
  • Builds essential skills in analysis, evaluation, comparison, and structured writing.
  • Supports independent revision, class discussion, and feedback during mock lessons.

NB: Flexible for teaching use: marks and feedback can be adapted depending on interpretation of the markscheme.
