Written Feedback in MFL is a handy feedback sheet/sticker (x4 per A4) designed to build student confidence and support progress in writing using the memorable CROISSANTED acronym.

It helps teachers give quick, clear, targeted and consistent feedback through identifying WWW (what went well) and setting NS (next steps) while referring to the success criteria. It is a marking time-saver!

CROISSANTED stands for Connectives, Comparisons, Complex Structures, Reasons, Opinions, Intensifiers, Sentence openers, Sequencers, Accuracy, Negatives, Tenses, Every bullet point covered and Detail (GCSE writing exam prep or KS3 writing practice) and detail.

Perfect for:

  • Teacher feedback – Stick into books or attach to assessments.
  • Self- and peer-assessment – Encourage independent reflection.
  • Boosting writing skills – Keeps key success criteria visible.

A practical and motivating tool to encourage students to ask themselves: “How well have I CROISSANTED my writing?”

Perfect for KS4, but also adaptable for KS3.

Available in Word format.
