This resource is a visual mind map that explores some of the most important quotes from The Merchant of Venice. Designed in a handwritten doodle style, it helps students remember and analyse quotes in a more engaging and memorable way.

The mind map includes key quotations such as “The quality of mercy is not strain’d,” “Hath not a Jew eyes?” and “All that glisters is not gold.” For each quote, students are given:

A clear explanation of its meaning

The literary techniques used (e.g. metaphor, imagery, rhetorical question)

The effect on the audience and its significance in the play

This sheet makes revision visual and accessible, breaking down difficult ideas into manageable chunks. It is ideal for:

GCSE / Leaving Cert English Literature revision

Whole-class teaching or individual study

Supporting students who prefer visual learning
