Develop pupils’ mathematical literacy, measures and mensuration vocabulary and retrieval skills with this complete collection of Maths Literacy Bingo games.

Designed for KS3 and GCSE Mathematics, this interactive whole-class resource helps pupils confidently read, hear, interpret and use the precise mathematical language associated with measurement, units, perimeter, area, volume, compound measures and scale.

The teacher displays one definition at a time using the included PowerPoint presentation. Pupils identify the matching mathematical term, check whether it appears on their individual bingo card and cross it off.

Because pupils must interpret each definition before responding, the activity develops genuine mathematical understanding rather than simple word recognition.

Vocabulary covered

The resource develops understanding of 20 important mathematical terms:

area
best buy
capacity
circumference
compound unit
conversion
density
length
map scale
mass
metric unit
perimeter
pressure
scale factor
speed
surface area
time
unit
volume
weight

The vocabulary ranges from foundational measurement language to more demanding GCSE terminology involving compound units, scale, density, pressure and best-buy comparisons.

What is included?
10 reusable Measures and Mensuration Maths Literacy Bingo versions
20 mathematical definition clues in each version
40 unique pupil cards per version
400 pupil bingo cards across the collection
Teacher-led PowerPoint caller presentation
Teacher call lists containing definitions and answers
Full-size printable PDF
4-per-page print-saver PDF
8-per-page print-saver PDF
Clear instructions for running the activity
214-page main PDF
100-page 4-up print-saver PDF
50-page 8-up print-saver PDF
222-slide PowerPoint

Each pupil card contains nine mathematical terms arranged across a 6 × 3 grid, with exactly three answers on each row.

Because pupils receive different cards, everyone must listen carefully, interpret the definition and retrieve the correct mathematical vocabulary independently.

Teachers can choose from several winning conditions:

one completed line
two completed lines
full house
