This KS2 African Art Bundle brings together six fully planned lessons exploring three rich artistic traditions: Tingatinga painting, Benin clay plaques, and Kente cloth design. Each pair of lessons introduces pupils to a different African art form through sketching, discussion, cultural context, and hands‑on creative work. Ideal for Years 3–6, whole‑class art projects, and cross‑curricular links with history, geography, and cultural studies.

Across the bundle, pupils learn to recognise artistic features, plan their own designs, and create finished pieces using paint, clay, and fabric. Every lesson includes clear modelling, WAGOLL examples, and differentiated resources to support mixed‑ability classes.

Lesson Overview
★ Tingatinga Art (2 Lessons)
Pupils explore the colourful Tingatinga style through music, animation, and artwork study. They sketch ideas, create museum‑style information cards, and paint their own Tingatinga‑inspired piece using bold colours and expressive animals.
★ Benin Plaques (2 Lessons)
Pupils learn about the Benin Kingdom and study traditional plaques before sketching four design ideas. They then create a clay plaque using safe joining techniques, raised features, and symbolic details.
★ Kente Cloth (2 Lessons)
Pupils study traditional Kente cloths from Ghana, sketch repeating geometric patterns, and explore colour symbolism. They then create a fabric version of their design using pre‑cut shapes, glue, and careful pattern placement.
