32 discussion flashcards to help KS1 children notice, name and manage their feelings, and get along with others. Each card has an everyday scenario and a question on the front, such as ‘Your ice cream falls off the cone and onto the ground. How do you feel?’ Children guess first, then turn the card over to see the feeling, strategy or friendship skill, a simple explanation and a question to talk about.

What’s Inside
Section A, Emotions We Know (16 cards): from happy, sad and angry to frustrated, embarrassed and grateful
Section B, Calming Strategies (8 cards): simple things to try, such as taking 3 big breaths, asking for a break or talking to a grown-up you trust
Section C, Friendship and Kindness (8 cards): taking turns, sharing, saying sorry, including others, listening and making up
Teacher and parent guide (3 pages): four ways to use the cards, curriculum links, a safeguarding note, and printing and assembly instructions

Curriculum Link
Supports the DfE statutory guidance ‘Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education’ (in force from 1 September 2026), including general wellbeing (the range of emotions, the words to talk about them and where to seek support) and caring friendships. It is a teaching and discussion resource, not a diagnostic or assessment tool.

Great for: circle time, PSHE and RSHE lessons, small groups, nurture groups, one-to-one support and home.

Format
Two PDFs: the 32-card deck (64 pages, each card’s front followed by its back) and a 3-page A4 guide. Print 4 pages per sheet to get each card’s front and back side by side, then fold and laminate or stick them together. Written in UK English, and prints clearly in colour or black and white.
