Everything you need to teach tourism at KS3 — two complete resources, full answer keys, and no preparation required. This lesson pack covers what tourism is, why it has grown since the 1950s, Butler’s Tourism Life Cycle Model, and the Blackpool case study for students aged 11-14.

Tourism is the movement of people away from home for pleasure. It is one of the world’s largest industries, providing jobs and income for millions of people. Understanding how and why destinations rise and fall in popularity is a core part of the KS3 Geography curriculum.

The main worksheet contains 17 questions worth 100 marks across three progressive sections: Section 1 (30 marks) covers key definitions, the UK tourism industry value, international and domestic tourism, Butler’s seven stages, and the factors behind tourism’s growth since the 1950s through multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, and matching questions; Section 2 (40 marks) builds understanding through short answer questions, a Butler’s model table, graph interpretation, key term definitions, and an extended explanation of decline versus rejuvenation; and Section 3 (30 marks) challenges students with extended writing on growth factors, a Blackpool case study analysis, and an evaluative essay on decline and rejuvenation. The extension pack provides four enrichment activities — a 12-term vocabulary matching exercise (12 marks); a 25-mark challenge quiz with a Blackpool data table; a 20-mark Benidorm case study; and a Teach It Back task with a provided rubric. Full answer keys and detailed marking guidance are included for everything. This resource is Google Classroom ready.

Buying this bundle saves £1 compared to purchasing both resources separately (£3 + £3 = £6 individually, £5 as a pack).
