Attached is a Powerpoint which guides students through the first 2 chapters of this great book which would be suitable for either Y8 and 9.

It鈥檚 set in the first world war. It focuses at the start on women鈥檚 perspectives which is important and I feel that it sets students up nicely for studying An Inspector Calls later as it explores social issues around this time, particularly of gender roles here.

  1. Students are asked to think about what life was like in 1915 - supporting images and a challenge task with a vocab focus.

  2. Blurb focus

  3. There are images and vocab lists for chapter 1 and 2 to support class reading.

  4. There is a list of questions to respond to with one challenge task.
