This task is focused on the character Anxiety from Inside Out 2, and hypothetical worries and concerns she may have.

The idea is for children to work line by line, and to recall the 4 potential anxieties and how the character Anxiety has ranked them. They are ranked using a straight forward traffic-light system in the form of a ‘Anxiety-ometer’.

There are 4 rounds and included in this activity set is the answer sheet for student’s to write, draw and colour code what they can recall. For most students, strategies will need to be implemented to support retention and this is often a good discussion point. Some students will need to further chunk this exercise, focusing on the images/words and then the corresponding colour.

Possible extensions:
Students to create their own versions for those working with them to remember. Taking it in turns to recall each other’s and speak about strategies used to support recall. Students may like to do this for different characters they have seen on Inside Out 2 and to link to their own experiences.

With students I have worked with, they have enjoyed using their answer sheets as a simple guide for forming simple sentences that use ‘however’, ‘on the other hand’, ‘in addition’, etc.
