How to Draw 40 Insects guides students to confidently draw 40 different insects in six easy steps. A great drawing unit to compliment your Art or insect topic lesson plans. The children can choose from the following insects:

ant, atlas moth, bedbug, bee, beetle, black widow spider, Brazilian tree hopper, butterfly, caterpillar, centipede, cicada, cockroach, cricket, damselfy, dragonfly, earwig, firefly, flea, grasshopper, hercules beetle, housefly, Jeruslaem cricket,

ladybird, louse, mosquito, preying mantis, scorpion, scorpionfly, silverfish,

spotted cucumber beetle, stink bug, tarantula hawk wasp, tarantula spider,

termite, thorn bug, wasp, water bug, weevil, wichetty grub and a woodlouse,

Only £5.99. That’s less than 15 pence a sheet! Superb value. Hear what other buyers are saying.

“Great value.” “Superb resource for an art project.”

“I used it in the afternoon, it helped to calm the class down.”

“Both the boys and the girls really loved this. Can you do dinosaurs next?”

Each guide contains six easy-to-follow pictured steps that start with basic lines and progress to a completed insect. The difficulty of the insects increases with 10 being the easiest, 20 being of medium difficulty and the last 10 being for the more gifted artists/drawers in your class.

Based upon my experience, and the student’s feedback, I would group the drawings as follows:

Easy

ant, bedbug, beetle, ladybird, louse, silverfish, stink bug, termite, water bug,
woodlouse.

Medium

bee, black widow spider, caterpillar, cockroach, cricket, damselfly, dragonfly,
earwig, firefly, flea, grasshopper, housefly, Jerusalem cricket, mosquito, preying mantis, scorpionfly, spotted cucumber beetle, wasp, weevil, wichetty grub.

Challenging

atlas moth, Brazilian tree hopper, butterfly, centipede, cicada,
hercules beetle, scorpion, tarantula hawk wasp, tarantula spider, thorn bug.

However, you can decide for yourself based upon your own view and the students you have. The first 5 steps are in black and white with step 6 giving an idea of the color(s) to use if so wished.
