How Fascism Rose to Power in Europe
About:
Fascism was a political movement that rose to power in parts of Europe during the 1920s and 1930s, most
notably in Italy under Benito Mussolini and in Germany under Adolf Hitler. It grew out of the anger, fear, and
economic hardship that followed World War One. This worksheet explores why fascism spread, how fascist
leaders gained control, and what effects fascism had on the world.
What鈥檚 Included:
This worksheet features Article (5 paragraphs), True/False (15 statements), Comprehension Questions (6),
Multiple Choice (15), Word Search (15 words), Crossword (10 clues), and Odd One Out (30 words).
Target Grades:
Grades 5-9
Teacher Note:
This worksheet introduces students to a difficult but important period of history. Encourage students to think
about causes and effects rather than memorizing dates, and use class discussion to explore why people
supported these movements.
