This 7 lesson enquiry scheme of learning explores the history of the Middle East, with a focus on Palestine.

L1: students will explore the Ottoman Empire as the dominant power in the Middle East, prior to World War One.

L2: students will learn how World War One led to the end of the Ottoman Empire, and the influence of Britain and France in the Middle East.

L3: students will be able to explain what the Balfour Declaration was, and what effects it had on the country of Palestine.

L4: students will learn about the Arab Revolt of 1936, and why tensions rose in between 1920 - 1940.

L5: students will be able to explain the impact of World War Two and the Zionism movement on Palestine.

L6: students will consolidate their learning and prepare for an assessment, answering: ‘why did Britain have to leave Palestine in 1947’

L7: guidance for students to write their assessment (includes scaffolding and model answer for addressing EBIs).
