A free interactive resource I鈥檝e been developing to help GCSE Physics students approach calculations more confidently and, most importantly, show their working!

One of the biggest challenges I find when teaching physics calculations is getting students to recognise where to start. They often struggle to identify the numbers they need, work out what those numbers represent or choose the correct equation. And even when they can get the answer, getting them to write down their working is another battle!

I鈥檝e developed this resource to give students a consistent eight-step approach to calculations.

What鈥檚 included:

  • 12 interactive modules covering GCSE Physics calculations.
  • Worked examples with step-by-step guidance.
  • Scaffolded practice that gradually builds towards independent questions.
  • Printable worksheets so students complete their calculations on paper.
  • Foundation and Higher practice.
  • A linked Unit Conversions activity for extra support.

The resource is designed around AQA GCSE Physics and Combined Science Trilogy, although much of the approach could be useful for other specifications.

The idea is to use it alongside the AQA equation sheet and printed worksheets, helping students get into the habit of setting out their calculations clearly.

It鈥檚 still in the testing phase, and I鈥檒l be making improvements as I use it with my classes, but I thought I鈥檇 share it in case it鈥檚 useful to anyone else.
