Free KS3 PSHE discussion lesson on honesty, plus the ten talk protocols that run through the whole line. A sample from Verity Talking Points — twelve ready-to-teach discussions on what pupils are already thinking about, covering PSHE core themes and oracy at the same time.

Oracy runs across the revised national curriculum from September 2028. Taught alone it becomes a skills course pupils forget; taught through content worth arguing about, it becomes how departments already work.

THE SAMPLE DISCUSSION — is it ever kind to lie?

Built around five ordinary untruths that most people tell before lunch. You get the original stimulus, a question ladder running from accessible to genuinely hard, both sides written at equal strength, key vocabulary, sentence stems, teacher notes and an international variant.

WRITTEN FOR SAFE DELIVERY

Every discussion stays hypothetical. Nothing invites disclosure. Sensitivity notes are built into each Talking Point and no parental sign-off is required.

It also carries a full Teacher Briefing, which is what makes this usable outside your own specialism: five minutes of prep if you are covering at short notice, the background, dated key facts, where the experts genuinely disagree, and the questions pupils ask that catch teachers out. These briefings are candid about contested evidence — including that growth mindset replicates less well than school training usually suggests.

THE TEN PROTOCOLS

Think–Pair–Share, Talk Trio, Silent Discussion, Four Corners, Fishbowl, Concentric Circles, Diamond Nine, Structured Debate, Prepared Position and Response, Talk Detectives.
