Turn a shiver into a giggle.

Halloween can be more than spooky fun: it can be a chance to build emotional resilience. In this open-ended creative activity, children give shape to something that gives them a little shiver and, through their imagination, take charge of it: they learn to recognise a small fear, express it safely and look at it with a lighter heart.

What’s inside (PDF, 2 pages, A4)

  • Illustrated pupil sheet, with Barti
  • Audio QR code: children hear Barti tell the mission (optional)
  • Grown-up guide: materials, how to support, questions for afterwards, easier and harder versions

Materials: paper, pencil, colouring pencils or felt tips. Optional: coloured paper, scissors, glue, play dough or clay.

A note for adults: this is a game, not an exercise in overcoming a fear. If a child has a very strong fear, suggest a creature that gives only “a little shiver.

Enjoyed it? In my shop you’ll also find the Barti artist missions: open-ended art lessons with Van Gogh, Matisse, Kandinsky, Degas and Arcimboldo.
