A complete KS2 PSHE and listening lesson. One pupil draws; their partner follows the same line from the other side of a clear screen, at the same moment.

Every child has their own clear screen - acetate stretched over a card frame. The pack shows you how to make a class set, with no-preparation alternatives. Pupils work in pairs, one either side of a screen. The artist draws whatever they like in a single continuous line; the follower traces it from their own side, in a second colour, as it appears.

Nothing is said about speed before the first round, and that is deliberate. When the artist draws too quickly the follower cannot stay with them, and both children can see it happen. The class discusses what changed, swaps roles and goes again. A fictional scenario card then carries the idea from drawing into conversation.

Assessment is ipsative: a baseline worksheet before, an endpoint worksheet after, so each pupil is compared with their own starting point rather than with the class. Drawing accuracy is never assessed.

18 pages, print-ready PDF: teacher overview, curriculum links, baseline and endpoint worksheets, setup steps and diagrams, screen preparation guide, photographs of the activity, scenario card, discussion prompts, assessment guidance, inclusion and SEND adaptations, safeguarding notes and a teacher reflection sheet, plus four extensions for Years 5-6 and adaptations for Years 1-2.

Ages 7-11 | 50-60 minutes | Low-cost materials | No previous art experience required
