Here is a ppt for use on European Day of Langs. I have just added the Yorkshire and local dialect references. We have used it in our assembly which is approx 20 mins and it worked with KS3 and KS4 also. Its probably too long on its own but you can doctor the pages to suit your own needs.

Adapted this for a year 9 Literacy group who had great fun working out the meanings of the phrases provided. led to discussion about words and phrases particular to their families/ area. a boon as wee were getting a little bogged down in grammar!!
