This document provides a timeline of some key novels written over the last 300 years, with their titles, what makes them significant, and how novel writing as a whole has changed and developed.

The idea is for students to be able to see the novels that they are studying in context - what other novels were written at the time, and how are they similar or different to what came before and after?

This is not a lesson as such but a starting point for further research, discussion, and evalution.
