This booklet is written specifically for OxfordAQA International A-Level English Literature (9675), Unit 3: Elements of Crime and Mystery (Macbeth and Oliver Twist). LT03 is a closed-book exam and most revision resources available are not designed for that. This one is. It works for independent student revision at home and for teacher-led lessons. Individual sections can be used as lesson starters, activities or homework tasks.

Seven sections and a quick-reference page across 30+ pages:

  • The Closed-Book Difference: what actually changes when students cannot open the text
  • From Description to Analysis: three versions of the same paragraph from Band 2/3 to Band 4/5, with annotation and tasks
  • The TIGER Framework: the genre-rooted paragraph structure used across this booklet series, with worked examples on Macbeth and Oliver Twist
  • Quotation Without the Book: the MAVE memorisation system with worked examples and blank cards
  • Planning Under Pressure: a five-step planning framework with timed practice tasks
  • Band 3 to Band 5: real examiner comments from LT03 scripts, a conversion table and a self-marking checklist
  • The 6-Week Pre-Exam Programme: daily tasks built around LT03

All examples and tasks use Macbeth and Oliver Twist. The frameworks apply to all nine set texts on the unit.

Specification: OxfordAQA 9675, LT03 Elements of Crime and Mystery, Year 13.
