Three days of substitute-ready Earth and Environmental Science in one no-prep download. Each day pairs a standalone ~50-minute documentary – one that fits a single class period – with a fill-in-the-blank video worksheet students complete while they watch. No prior lesson, no grading, nothing for the substitute to prepare. A one-page Sub & Teacher Notes run-sheet tells the sub exactly what to play and hand out, and answer keys are included for your return.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

  • Sub & Teacher Notes cover sheet (what to play each day, what to hand out, where to find each film)
  • 3 fill-in-the-blank worksheets, one per day, in transcript order (48 questions total)
  • 3 matching answer keys
  • US Letter, low-ink, two-sided printable

THE THREE DAYS (each ~50 minutes – fits one class period)

  1. Planet Earth III: “Human” (2023) – wildlife, people, and human impact (~50 min, 17 questions)
  2. Planet Earth III: “Extremes” (2023) – life in Earth’s most extreme environments (~50 min, 16 questions)
  3. Mammals: “Water” (2024) – freshwater and ocean ecosystems (~50 min, 15 questions)
Each episode is self-contained, so the three days can run in any order.

WHERE TO FIND THE VIDEOS
Planet Earth III and Mammals are BBC documentaries, widely available via streaming services, school libraries, or DVD. Confirm access on your service before your absence. (Videos are not included.)

PERFECT FOR

  • Emergency and planned substitute days in Earth or Environmental Science (grades 6-12)
  • The first week of school, end of unit, or the day before a break
  • Homeschool families covering ecosystems, human impact, and climate
