This Early Years literacy resource is designed to support the development of phonics, reading, writing and fine motor skills in an interactive way.
Across the first four pages, children are presented with three simple CVC words inside segmented circles (e.g. rat, jug, dog) alongside three clear matching pictures.
Children are encouraged to sound out each word, blend the sounds, and then match the word to the correct picture. The circles can be cut out, allowing for hands-on activities such as sorting, matching and sticking, which further reinforces learning through play.
Page 6 provides a black-and-white collection of 12 familiar images, giving children the opportunity to independently name each picture, segment and spell the words, then write them down before colouring the images.
On page 7, children trace the dotted words beneath each picture and then either write the word independently or draw their own version of the image, supporting both letter formation and comprehension. These images are in colour.
Finally, page 8 encourages children to draw the pictures themselves and trace the corresponding words underneath, promoting creativity alongside literacy skills.
This progressive structure supports children at different stages of development, linking directly to phonics knowledge, early reading skills, writing practice and pencil control.
The combination of visual prompts, tracing, cutting and drawing makes this resource ideal for EYFS learners, helping to build confidence and independence in early literacy.
