Teach Cuba first, then test it. This teaching pack covers exactly the content the Cuba Quiz Bank assesses, in plain English your Spanish 1 students can follow, with Spanish key terms and one readable Spanish sentence on every content slide. One complete period of teaching: 16 slides, about twenty real photos.

Grades 6-12.

Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, 90 miles of water from Florida: Havana with its Malecon, Capitolio, and classic cars, the bee hummingbird (the smallest bird in the world), the tocororo in the flag鈥檚 own colors, the mogotes of Vinales, nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ropa vieja and the cafecito, Habanos cigars, the music that made Cuba famous, baseball and 244 Olympic medals, and Varadero on the coast.

WHAT IS INSIDE: an introduction PDF (contents, the teach, study, practice, assess path, and links); the teaching deck in PowerPoint (16 slides, 16:9, one big real photo on most slides, 3 to 5 teaching bullets per slide, Spanish key terms highlighted, and one En espa帽ol sentence with its translation on every content slide); the same deck as a Google Slides copy, ready to import in 3 steps; a study sheet (one short plain English paragraph per topic area, photos, and a Key Vocabulary box of 12 culture words, each explained in plain English); a worksheet with fresh practice items (matching 10 pairs, fill in the blank with a word bank 7, short answer 3); the worksheet key with a one line explanation for every answer; and teacher lesson notes (timing plan, talking points, worksheet guidance, photo credits, and terms of use).

HOW A LESSON RUNS: TEACH (about 25 minutes), present the deck and talk through each slide with the lesson notes. STUDY (about 10 minutes), students read the study sheet. PRACTICE AND CHECK (about 15 minutes), the worksheet, graded fast with the explained key. ASSESS (next step), the Cuba Quiz Bank. Total: about 50 minutes, one full class period. The study sheet is understandable from the English alone, and its vocabulary box explains only the culture words a first year student cannot guess, like malecon, tocororo, and mogotes.

Add the assessment step: the Cuba Quiz Bank ($6.95) holds 38 questions on exactly this content, in Canvas QTI, Google Forms, Moodle, Blooket, Kahoot, Gimkit, Wayground, and printable formats. Or get both together in the Cuba Country Unit Bundle ($11.95), $13.90 bought separately. Find both in the EduLingo store here on 糖心Vlog. This pack is one of a growing country series: Espana, Mexico, and Puerto Rico quiz banks are already in the store, and more countries are on the way.
