We hope these guide series help you plan your review/revision work. These are concise and precisely aligned with the updated syllabus. Many teachers have collaborated in making of these guides. If they are useful in your teaching, please consider leaving a review. It would truly be helpful for us to improve on the process of making. You can also explore other guides at the store.

This is everything an IGCSE History student needs to go from “I’ve learnt the facts” to “I can answer the question under exam conditions.” Four complete master guides – covering all four papers of Cambridge 0470 History. Paper 1 (Core Content – 2 hours), Paper 2 (Depth Studies – 2 hours), Paper 3 (Coursework – optional), and Paper 4 (Alternative to Coursework – 1 hour). Buy the bundle and save.

Paper 1 – Core Content (2 hours, 50 marks, 40% of IGCSE): 19th and 20th century core topics – key events, causes and consequences, depth of knowledge required. Six compulsory questions. Question types: describe (4 marks), explain (6 marks), and essay (10 marks). Command words decoded (Describe, Explain, Why did, How far do you agree). Essay structure – PEEL paragraphs, balancing evidence, reaching substantiated conclusions. Topic frequency analysis across core syllabus. 50% of final grade with Paper 1.

Paper 2 – Depth Studies (2 hours, 50 marks, 33% of IGCSE): Two depth studies from the syllabus (chosen from Germany 1918–45, Russia 1905–41, USA 1919–41, China 1945–76, South Africa 1948–94, Israel/Palestine 1945–95). Four questions on each depth study – part (a) source-based (6 marks), part (b) source-based (7 marks), part © source-based (8 marks), part (d) essay (9 marks). Source analysis protocol (provenance, content, tone, purpose, cross-referencing). Evaluation of utility, reliability, and value. Essay structure for part (d) – balanced argument with judgement.

Paper 3 – Coursework (optional, 40 marks, 25% of IGCSE): One extended essay (2000 words) based on a historical enquiry. Question must be analytical (not narrative). Mark scheme for Coursework (AO1 knowledge, AO2 understanding of events, AO3 analysis/evaluation, AO4 use of sources). How to choose a question, gather evidence, structure the essay, use primary and secondary sources appropriately. Internally marked, externally moderated.

Paper 4 – Alternative to Coursework (1 hour, 40 marks, 25% of IGCSE): For candidates not taking Coursework. Four compulsory source-based questions. 6 source extracts plus a written passage. Source analysis framework (nature, origin, purpose, cross-referencing, contextual knowledge). Question types: value/reliability (6 marks), comparison (6 marks), own knowledge (7 marks), assessment/judgement (7 marks). How to integrate own knowledge without drifting from sources.

Everything follows the Cambridge 0478 syllabus for 2026–2028. No fluff. Just what earns marks in the exam.

What’s included in the bundle:

Paper 4 Master Guide – Alternative to Coursework (source-based exam)

Command words decoded (Describe, Explain, How far, Assess, Evaluate the usefulness)

Source analysis protocol for Paper 2 and Paper 4 (7-step process)

Essay structure templates (PEEL, balanced argument, substantiated conclusion)

Predicted topics for upcoming sessions (2026–2028)

Quick reference appendices + grade boundary targets (A* to G)

Suitable for IGCSE Cambridge 0470 History (100% of IGCSE – Papers 1, 2, & 3/4). My students tell me the source analysis protocol, the essay plan template, the Paper 4 time management strategy, and the “explain vs assess” command word decoder are worth the price of the bundle alone.

A small ask: If this bundle helps you and your students, please take two minutes to leave a review. It helps other teachers find resources that actually work – and I read every single one. Thank you!
