I originally created this resource for my Year 10 ELC Science group as part of our Black History Month work. I wanted something that introduced pupils to a range of Black scientists and their achievements, while also providing an accessible reading and comprehension activity.

The pack includes two colourful A3 posters, one featuring male scientists and one featuring female scientists, along with matching comprehension activities and teacher answers. The questions include retrieval, vocabulary, true or false, chronology, finding evidence and a personal response.

Although originally designed for ELC Science, the resource could also be used for English comprehension, a cover lesson, Black History Month activities, or as a starter with more able groups before moving on to further research or discussion.

The posters can be used on their own as classroom displays, or as the information source for pupils to complete the accompanying activities. I have kept the pupil sheets simple and low-ink to make them practical and inexpensive to photocopy, while keeping the A3 posters colourful and engaging.

Please note: AI-assisted tools were used to support the creation of the illustrated poster artwork. The educational content has been teacher-designed, edited and checked for classroom use.**
